Aim: How to present upload your work

So the essay has been planned, written and honed; all theat remains is for the final formatting and upload. Well, if you have forgotten how to present your work then you hav ecome to the right place.

The video here is very dry but well worth watching. Please note there are some differences here from what I have presented here. On reflection I would follow his instructions. Of course some of these things are not possible on Google Docs.

Bibbliographies et al

    1. Include only cited works. (MLA) - check that anything in quotations or anything summarised from another source has been appropriately cited in MLA.

    2. Attach any essential Appendices. These will never be marked but may be important if there is information which will help your reader. You should have already cited any essential information. (Heading 1 - Appendix 1, Appendix 2 ...)

Final Checks

  • Highlight your topic sentences and ensure your essay makes sense just by reading them.

  • Check to ensure your topic sentences all relate to the question

  • Check to ensure your paragraphs all relate to the topic sentence

  • Check the grammar and punctuation and spelling again!

  • Check your citations

  • Check each paragraph for flow

  • Re-read for one last final time... and then go back to the beginning.

  • Finally save your work and submit it to the required place. (You might have to include a completed copy of the relevant Task sheet.)

Saving Your work

Remember to save your work in a format that will let the recipient (me) understand whose and what it is. (Twenty-six docs entitled 'English Essay' is of no use to me!)

Name your file: 2022-CN0601-TOK-Q6.pdf

I have it here as a pdf as this helps it maintain formatting on another computer and means it is harder to edit. Many people prefer you to use Google Docs.

ATL: Structure information in summaries, essays and reports

This is something we have been looking at from initial organisation to writing paragraphs. The final hurdle is to present your work in a professional looking manner. Do not underestimate this. Most academic institutions have clear guidelines as to how they would like work to be presented. But it is important as, whether we like it or not, appearance is half the battle whether it is how you dress or how you present your work. So make sure your title page is structured properly, your work is laid out well and that all the peripheral information is present. The video on the left I have posted elsewhere but is another person's explanation for appropriate formatting.
